Some leaders behind power game

Chairman of Constitutional Political Dialogue and Consensus Committee Dr Baburam Bhattarai has said that consensus in constitution writing was illusive as some top leaders were concentrated on issues power sharing instead of working to forge a consensus in the disputed issues of constitution.

Talking to media persons at the Committee Secretariat in Singhadurbar today, Dr Bhattarai said some political parties were more concentrate in power game instead of the new constitution adding that leaders' race for their position after the constitution promulgation was guiding the present situation.

"I have told the leaders not to mix constitution with the power sharing as constitution is long lasting and issue of national importance," Dr Bhattarai said.

He, however, did not pronounce the name of politicians who were involved in the power game.

Dr Bhattarai said alternatives would be sought if consensus was not forged by November 1.

Earlier this afternoon, Dr Bhattarai held separate talks with top leaders of different political parties including NC senior leader Sher Bahadur Deuba.
